Mrs. Carol Carter Masterpaul

On September 11. 2026 Our beloved mother Carol Carter Masterpaul joined our father in the afterlife. She was born in Cortland on November 27, 1941, to Douglas and Sylvia Carter. Carol graduated from Cortland High in 1959 and went to work multiple careers in Tupperware, Upholstery, Banking, Title Abstracts and retired from H&R Block where she served as a tax consultant/preparer. In all things that Carol performed, she was a perfectionist and enjoyed the details in the work. She was adept at creating her own designs or re-working a design to fit a different object through her pursuits of sewing, crafts and quilting. Customized treasures such as providing a beautiful stocking and detailed personalized quilt for every child, grandchild, and great grandchild in her family as well as sweaters and clothing for her children and babies along the way. She loved gardening and canning and was fantastic with baked goods and soap making, showcasing her attention to detail and scientific sense of thought. She saved and cataloged everything she ever did, from canning and crafts to housing projects and medical files. Documenting every detail, receipt and material of every project she ever laid hands on. Archiving recipes, patterns, and plans or more, if she felt it could be useful or used again someday by her or anyone in her world, she saved it. She was often ribbed by family for hanging on to things and then would be the first one they asked “do you have a…” if they were looking for something. Her eye for detail bonded the family together and was evident in everything she did. She enjoyed country music, bluegrass, theatre, board games, and cards with family and friends. She and dad travelled the country in their RV attending bluegrass festivals and seeing the sites and experiencing historical locations. Travelling across the country multiple times and even getting to share those experiences with two of their granddaughters on one of those trips. She and dad avidly attended anything that her kids or grandkids were involved in and always supported them fully. Anything from clubs and sports to theatre and career driven activities and events, she and dad supported everything their family did to the end. In all that she did, mom most enjoyed sharing with family in any way possible and passing on any skill or knowledge that she could. She is survived by her son; Vincent (Amanda) Masterpaul of Myrtle Beach SC. three daughters; Corena (Donald) Morse of Virgil NY, Monica (Rick) Felici of Coupeville, WA and Rebecca (Robert) Stockwin of Homer NY, two brothers; Douglas (Irene) Carter and Craig (Barb) Carter both of Greenville, S. Carolina., also surviving are 12 grandchildren; Cassondra Morse, Britt (Emily) Morse, Clint Morse, Garrett (McKenzie) Morse, Rosa (Donald) Kinkaid, Julia (Zac) McRobert, Matthew (Lauren) Stockwin, Nathan (Rachel) Stockwin, Gretta (Cody) Stockwin, Stella Stockwin, Luke Masterpaul and Ellie Masterpaul. and 12 great grandchildren; Tucker, Boden, Jackson, Sawyer, Beckett, Drake, Ainsley, Joseph, Blakeley, Kruz and twins on the way. Carol was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph J Masterpaul in 2022 and by a brother; Darrel Carter in 2024. Private services will be held for family with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
