Mr. Thomas A. Granato, 85, of Cortland, passed away Thursday June 16, 2016 at Crown Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born November 9, 1930 in Cortland, Tom was the son of Tony Anthony Granato and Mayta Isham Granato. Tommy faithfully served his country in the United States Army serving as a Paratrooper in the 81st Airborne. He was employed as a plumber for many years with Rourke & Granato in Cortland. He also was the owner and instructor of Greene Parachute Center in Greene, N.Y. In later years he was also employed with McNeil Development. Tommy loved to race Go Karts and was a Golden Glove Boxer. He is survived by his children; Victoria (Ron) Riccardi, Michele A. (Richard E.) Morehouse and Thomas A. Granato all of Cortland., and Renee M. Granato Cranmer of Ithaca, two brothers; Donald and Robert Granato both of Florida, longtime friend, Barbara Grant and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by a brother; Louis Albert Granato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the church prior to Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Riccardi Funeral Home 69 N. Main St. Cortland, N.Y.
