Philip C. Natoli Philip C. Natoli, 84, of 21 Pomeroy St. Cortland, NY died peacefully at his home. Phil was a lifelong resident and was born in Cortland on Dec.4, 1927 to Dominick and Mary Natoli. Phil was a graduate of Cortland High School .He left in his senior year to join the US Army where he quickly became a Sgt. and first trumpeter in the US Army Jazz band. He was offered an opportunity to see the world as a professional musician, but he returned home to marry the love of his life Anita (Capaldo) Natoli. On Jun. 2, 2011, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary and spent every day working, playing and just being side by side until his last breath. Phil continued his love for music with his own local quartet. He will be remembered fondly for providing great dance music for local weddings, charity balls and other non profit and fundraising events. He was a business man and owned and operated Phil's Cash Market, Hamlin Street Market, The Cousins 3 Restaurant, and retired at age 72 from The Groton Ave Liquor Store. He loved his work, playing jokes, and enjoyed every minute serving his customers. Most of all he loved his family. As Dad or "Pop" he was the first one there wanting to help. He could be counted on no matter what. His generous and loving spirit will live on in those who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife of 64 years Anita Capaldo Natoli, two children Jerry (Cindy) Natoli of Endicott, NY, Judy (Robert) Risavi of Cortland; three grand children ,Erin (Ben) Tongue of Vestal, NY, Christopher Risavi of Cortland, and Andrea Natoli of Baltimore MD; one great-grandson, Eliot Tongue of Vestal. Also surviving are his sister MaryAnn Palladino of the Elizabeth Brewster House, his brother John (Barbara) Natoli and sons Jay, Brian and Mark Natoli of Sayre, PA , brother-in-laws James Perfetti of Cortland and Edward Capaldo of New Haven,CN; son Micheal Haight of Camillus,NY and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws Angelo and Angeline Capaldo, sister Elizabeth Perfetti, brother-in-law Pat Palladino and grandson Patrick Natoli. A very special thank you to Kathy Kurtz and Heather Donovan and all the other aides for their exceptional personal care, love and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m on Sat. November 19th in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Lucian Urbaniak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery, Cortland. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday Nov.18th in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home 69 N. Main Street, Cortland, NY
