Mr. Michael J. Granato

October 7, 1930 - September 2, 2020

Michael J. Granato 89, a lifelong resident of Cortland, NY., passed away peacefully Wednesday 9/2/20. Born October 7, 1930, he was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Joseph Granato. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Estherina and their 3 children. Jeff Granato of Wilmington NC, Cheri (Chuck) Windhausen of Solvay, NY, Jessica Windhausen of Florida, Mike (Grace) Granato of Wilmington, NC. Grand-Daughter Andrea (Matthew) Blevins also of Wilmington. Half siblings Nancy (Deacon) Coye of Cortland and Dick Granato of Auburn,NY and many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends. He loved his family and will forever live in our hearts. He joined the Army in 1950, served in Korea and Japan, was a paratrooper with the 187th Airborne attaining the rank of Sergeant- honorably discharged in 1953. Michael worked at Smith Corona, Brockway and retired from Economy paving. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and VFW and loved rooting for the Yankees. At Michael’s request there will be no calling hours, a private family service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Michael may be made to St.Judes Children‘s research hospital at: P.O.
