Mrs. Mary O. Giamei, 71, of Cortland passed away, Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Born October 11, 1944 in South Waymouth, Massachusetts, Mary was the daughter of Francis and Margaret Morris O'Leary and was a Cortland resident most of her life. She was a graduate of the Class of 1962 of St. Mary's Parochial School. Mary was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Homer and a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Cortland Council. She was formerly employed as a cook with the David Harum and The Three Bear Inn. Mary also was employed with the Office of The Aging as a Manager of the Homer Senior Center. Mary then went on to work for Cortland Corset Co. and then retired from Cortland Foundations where she was the Payroll Employee Benefits Clerk. Mary is survived by her son, Nicholas Giamei of Homer, two daughters, Angela (Louis) D'Angelo of Plymouth, Pennsylvania and Julie Landsdowne of Cortland, a sister, Margaret (James) Loomis of Deland, Florida, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the church prior to mass. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society or please say a Chaplet of Divine Mercy in her memory.
