Miss Josephine Morgia

Josephine Morgia of Cortland passed away, Monday, July 23, 2012 at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility at the age of 92. Born, January 23, 1920 in Cortland, Josephine was the daughter of Romeo and Antoinette Perfetti Morgia and was a resident of Cortland her entire life. Josephine was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church and was formerly employed by Cortland Line Co, for 42 years. She also was the proprietor of Clinton Ave. Liquor Store for many years which she co owned with her sister, Rose Dvorak. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dennis and Ellen Dvorak of Tully, and their children, Katie, Joe and Claire., Antoinette (Bob) Bowering of Maine, John (Sue) Morgia of Michigan, Jim (Claudia) Morgia of Nebraska, Sharon (Paul) Aslanian of Florida and Jeffrey (Isabella) Morgia of Florida and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her brother, John Morgia and sisters, Rose Dvorak and Angela Stearns. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:15 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church with Rev. Lucian Urbaniak serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Church prior to the funeral mass.
