Mr. John A. Caratelli

John Anthony Caratelli, born August 20,1938 and died on March 13, 2014. John was the son of Anthony and Caroline Tucci Caratelli. John is survived by his sisters, Josephine, Anne and Philomena, his children, AnneRose Caratelli, Joanne Caratelli (Nevil) Riker; his grandsons, Jordan and Caleb Riker and one great granddaughter, Crimson Nevaeh the "light of his life". and many cousins. John was a printer by trade and had learned the trade as he worked with his Dad who had owned a print shop. He also worked on the thruway in the food service department. As John grew older and wiser he decided to go to college and graduated from Finger Lakes Community College with an Associates Degree in Sociology. John was interested in community service and served as a volunteer in the Fire and Emergency Department of his local fire department. He enjoyed being with people, talking, sharing laughter and listening to others stories. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, his sister, Carol and his grandson, Jacob. John's family would like to thank State Trooper, Jeff Watowski, the Finger Lakes visiting nurses, Tina and Donna and Kim of Dr. Piotroslei's office and all of his caring friends for all of their kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery will be private. The Caratelli family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In St. Anthony's Church, Pomeroy St, Cortland. Contributions in John's memory may be sent to a charity of ones choice.
