Mr. John L. Buttino

John L (Jack) Buttino, 84 of Cortland passed away suddenly on March 28, 2021. He was born March 8, 1937 in Cortland NY, the son of the late John A. Buttino and Lillian (Cole) Buttino. Jack was a lifelong resident of Cortland and graduated from Cortland High School in 1955. After graduation he enlisted in the United State Air Force and served from 1955 to 1959 and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi Mississippi as a Technical Instructor. He was employed at SUNY Cortland in 1963 retiring after 30 years in 1994 as an Instructional Support Technician. Jack is survived by his wife Mary (Stevens) Buttino, several cousins, nephews, nieces, and many very special friends who will miss him greatly. Many thanks to the staff at the Hollywood Restaurant where he ate lunch almost every day for over 20 years. An avid car enthusiast Jack collected special interest autos for over 50 years and was a member of several auto clubs, but his passion was with Chrysler cars, especially Chrysler “300” letter series autos and attended many shows and meets. Jack also loved music, especially pipe organ and was a member of the Empire State Theatre and Musical Instrument Museum in Syracuse and was their Program Director for over 10 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Cortland Elks club. There are no calling hours, a private burial will be held at a later date. Contributions in Jack’s memory can be made to the Cortland SPCA, Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Riccardi Funeral Home, Cortland, N.Y.
