Eva C. Fabrizio, 100, of Cortland passed away on February 2, 2021. Eva was born on March 15, 1920 in Tower Hill, Pennsylvania the daughter of Ralph and Catherine Cackowski Capaldo. She graduated in 1938 from high school in Brownville, Penn. and moved to Cortland the following year to join her sisters. She was employed by the Cortland Line Co. and retired from S.U.N.Y. Cortland. Eva was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, a member of their Altar Society and the Stella D’Oro Lodge. Additionally, Eva was a proud union member. Eva loved collecting Hummel figurines and belonged to their collectors club. She also loved to knit and had made scarfs and hats for her family and every friend. Eva was predeceased by her husband; Anthony, the love of her life, as well as her siblings; Victor Capaldo, Virginia Favaloro, Elvira Padavona, Violet Augustine and Stella Crisara. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as the many friends and staff of the Elizabeth Brewster House where she spent many years before her passing. Eva became especially close to Kimberly Wells, a staff member from the Brewster House. Eva’s family is so grateful to Kimberly for her caring for Eva and her wonderful friendship. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately for her family in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. Prayers of committal also private will he conducted in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Eva’s memory may be made to St. Anthony’s Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
