Mrs. Theresa Kathryn Tutino

Theresa Kathryn Tutino, 94, passed away on November 27, 2014 in Cortland, New York surrounded by family. Mrs. Tutino was born in Utica, N.Y. July 11, 1920, the oldest daughter of Pietro and Ersilia (Bernardi) Cappelli. She moved to Cortland, N.Y after her marriage to Americo A. Tutino, Sr. on October 28, 1939. Amery Sr. predeceased her October 7, 1988. Theresa was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Cortland and served as a church greeter for many years. She was also a member of the Altar Society. Her deep devotion to her Faith sustained her for her lifetime. She is now resting peacefully at the side of the Lord. Mrs. Tutino is survived by her five children: Peter J. Tutino (FL), Kathleen M. Tutino (NM), Amy L. Piatak (FL), Therese A. Tutino (Dan Jones) (NY), and Amery A. Tutino, Jr. (Jennifer) (NY); and two sisters, Annette Graziano and Mary G. Moschetto along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchild, Gowena O'Mara. Sister Clara Gagliano, and infant brother Anthony Cappelli, predeceased her. Theresa encouraged her seven grandchildren throughout her life; Andrew, Andrea, Amy, Nicholas, Dominic, Izabell-Ann, and Giada. Theresa wanted her family to achieve great success in all that they accomplished. Theresa was an avid golfer, walked all over town, enjoyed her lifetime membership at the YWCA, and looked forward to marching with the Altar Society during St. Anthony's Festival. She was President of Amery Realty Co. for 26 years. In addition, Theresa was an excellent baker; her specialties were pies, Easter bread, and Christmas fruitcake. Her Italian heritage was reflected in her delicious meatballs and sauce. All who were fortunate enough to share her cooking and baking will remember it for their lifetimes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 with the Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland, NY. There are no public calling hours. Those wishing to honor Theresa's memory are asked to consider contributions to the YWCA of Cortland or St. Anthony's Church, Cortland.
