Mr. Francis J. Snyder

Francis J. "Fritz" Snyder, 93, of Cortland, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Cortland Regional Medical Center Residential Care Facility. He was born August 1, 1920 the son of Fredrick and Minnie O'Mara Snyder and was a Cortland resident most of his life. Fritz graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1938, married Loretta Agnes Ryan in 1948 and retired from NCC Industries in 1982 as the supervisor of the cutting department. Fritz had been employed by Crescent Corset and NCC for 44 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland for most of his life, attending St. Leo's Parish in Tully when he and Loretta lived in Tully. Fritz enjoyed his family more than anything. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking long walks and golfing at Willowbrook. Fritz is survived by his sons: Patrick (Cyndi Koolakian) (children Lora and Joseph); Michael (children Christine (husband Mike Parziane, children, Jake and Hannah), Zachary & Caitlin); Mark (children Kevin and Kelly); Timothy (wife Ellen, children Travis, Graham, Alexis, Seth, Mariah, Leo, Nicki and Pablo); Thomas (wife Alicia, children Ryan, Sean, Grace and Luke); his daughters: Deborah (husband James B. Adams Jr., children, James B. III (wife Christina), Kelsey and Bridgitte); Kathleen (husband Michael J. Reagan, children Molly, (husband, Ted Andrejko, son Del Francis) Shaylah (husband Christopher Peppel), Jessie (husband Gabe McNaughton), Jacob (wife Maria, son Michael), Ryan, Margaret, John Paul, Garrett and Daniel); and Sharon (children Anna, Rachel and Samuel Mickel.) Fritz was preceded in death by Loretta in 2009, his son Gary in 1979, daughter-in-law Kathryn in 1991, his brother Fredrick in 1994, and his sister Mary B. Snyder in 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home 69 N.
